Though God of War: Ghost of Sparta released over 10 years ago, the recent hype of God of War (2018)'s PC port release has fans of all the games talking. This has lead to fans looking back at the older games in the series, including God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

A day before God of War (2018)'s PC release, one of these fans decided to create a tribute to God of War: Ghost of Sparta, using its cover art to create an animation. The result was a breathtaking work of art, adding new detail to the cover while improving on the art already present. Also, the fan added the God of War: Ghost of Sparta menu music to the animation, further adding to the quality.

The fan in question, Reddit user KratosMemories, posted the animation to the God of War subreddit. They explained that the tribute was created to celebrate a streamer reaching 130,000 subscribers, and let others know they may download the animation for use as a wallpaper.

Users absolutely loved the God of War animation. Some of them commented congratulating KratosMemories for their effort, saying the animation combined with the music made for an amazing piece. Other users reminisced on the series' older titles, telling KratosMemories their animation and the menu music brought them a ton of nostalgia. Also, though KratosMemories said users could, others still asked if they could download and use the animation.

The attention to detail shown by KratosMemories can be seen when one looks back at the original cover for the game. Every element from the cover is present, but is highlighted in new ways. Kratos himself has been given movement, as have his clothes and chains. Light can also be seen crawling along the grooves of his swords. The foreground sees embers dancing across the screen, highlighting the chaotic, flame-covered, smoky background. Speaking of the background, the clouds and fire can be seen moving slightly, making the animation feel more alive.

The God of War series is alive and well after its most successful title ever in 2018 and a port of that title having just been released. However, KratosMemories created a nostalgic work of art for fans of the older games to enjoy as God of War heads away from its Greek roots. One thing for nostalgic fans to consider is letting the developers know how much they would love remakes or a return to Greece; what Kratos would return to fight is unclear, but with the franchise's recent success, perhaps the developers will consider creating a tribute themselves.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta is out now for the Sony PSP.
